Ethan is the Candy Corn Thief

Ethan is at the age where he is very busy and into everything. One day last month Ethan and I were the only ones home. Ethan had crawled away and I thought he probably had headed for the bathroom. Well I followed suit and couldn’t find him in the bathroom, the boys or girls bedrooms, or the laundry room. When I went into my room for further inspection, I found him hiding behind my bed with a bag full of candy corn. I quietly ran and got my camera and when I returned and he saw me, he let out this huge giggle (caught on film!) Note to Brian-unsupervised bags of candy left on your nightstand are now free game for Ethan! You should have seen the tears he cried when his treasure was taken away from him.

Cold Stone Icecream and 6 Sunbeams

My teaching partner Kathy and I decided to take our little class of sunbeams for a primary party. We thought Cold Stone fit the bill for the party. First we let the kids each get as many free samples as they wanted, then they each chose their ice cream and candy. The most popular ice cream was blue cotton candy with gummy bears. They each watched as their treat was made. Then they all sat at the table and ate their ice cream with delight. Afterwards, we went out to the water feature in the courtyard and tossed in pennies.  Everyone had a ball!

Nettie Spaghetti and Dysie Maisy

Nettie and Dyana used to share a bedroom growing up. They are just a little over a year apart in age and therefore shared friends, clothes, dolls, toys, etc. growing up. They remind me of my two little girls. Different as night and day in personality and appearance but sisters nonetheless who played together and stayed together. It was not uncommon to hear fighting, screaming, tears (Dyana) and rantings (Nettie) coming from their bedroom. My mom would try to negotiate with them, then yell, then cry herself, after trying to help them solve their huge childhood dilemmas. I remember her repeatedly making the comment, “One day you will realize that your friends will come and go but your sister will always be there for you!” Well, they grew up, ended up being great friends, college roommates and then roommates in SLC as big grownup people with real jobs. Their lives are rapidly changing right now and when they sent me this recent picture I couldn’t help but think of them as my little sisters who shared a room right next door to me.

Classic Quote from my 6 year old

Mom: How was playing at the Michels? Did you have fun?

Andrew: Yeah, I had fun…But Mrs. Michels was out of toilet paper in the downstairs bathroom so I wiped my bum with my socks and then washed them.

Mom: (looking down at Andrew’s feet) Those socks?

Andrew: Yeah

Yep, it may be November but the Halloween pictures and fun never end. I just got my kids Halloween pictures and they are adorable. I think you will all agree!

I may be a little partial but I think my Spider-Man, Barbie Princess, Beauty and the Beast Belle, and Fat Little Pumpkin are just the cutest! Halloween night we went to a wonderful party at our friends the Davis Family. They had a million appetizer choices and gourmet foods. But my process food junkie kids just kept asking, “Where’s the chicken nuggets?” Unfortunately Brian didn’t make it as he was at work but he was able to join the kids and I for trick-or-treating. Andrew loved racing from house to house to collect the candy loot. We kept telling him he had to stay with the family and not be one or two houses ahead. The kids were completely happy with their bounty. We even joined up with several other families with kids our kids’ own age. And believe it or not, Lizzy walked the entire distance without complaint until the last block. I am sure her little legs walked at least a mile over the 2 hours we were out in the neighborhood. Ethan gave up early and fortunately got to go to bed since Nana was taking care of treat duties at our house. My kids fully expect to wear their costumes to Grammie Martin’s for more Halloween festivities during our trip there November 21st. Grammie, you better be prepared! Who I am kidding, she probably has 100 lbs of candy from the 90% after Halloween sale!

Halloween Party

My neighbor Lynley who lives across the street is a dear friend. She has a daughter who is one day younger than Lizzie. Saydee and the girls play together non stop and are always looking out each other’s window as to whether the other is home to play. Lynley  invited my kids over for a party night. They had pizza, watched Jungle Book, and then decorated black t-shirts with white paint ghosts (you use your foot). I felt guilty as I had 4 hours of pleasant company with my husband, a date night dinner and I even took a bubble bath. We will definitely make it up to Lynley. The kids have worn their t-shirts all month!

Oompa Loompas

Well, my dear sisters may never forgive me but hey, when you e-mail me pictures of your halloween costume what do you expect? Michelle, Annejeanette, Christina and Chelsea (not pictured) all dressed up as oompa loompas (and yes, I did have to look up the spelling to make sure I got it right) for halloween this year and then made themselves available as hot sexy singles at a singles party. Now, if I were single I don’t know if I would have chosen this costume as the one to grab the man. First of all, are oompa loompas a gender? From the picture (see below), they look like men?

But then again, check out these hot singles and well, they look pretty darn similar.

Apparently they were not too impressed with the consulation prize they won.

Word of advice ladies, next year try being Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders!
